The iconic lamp of the industrial design of the mid 20th century

The standard lamp Jieldé Loft Vespa green is a showpiece of the industrial furniture design and especially the design of lamps. This version is a reference to the traditional colour used by Jieldé for their lights - the vespa green, based on the name of the famous Italian scooter manufacturer.

The electrical mechanism of this lamp is unique as the absence of a power cord inside of the hinges offers much space for the three 40 cm long arms.

The heavy metal base with a diameter of 33 cm stands for flawless robustness.

The metallic switch is located on the lampshade.

Functions with a light bulb with E27 screw base and a maximum of 100 watts.

    • Post-war era, democratization, industrial style in the post-war era

The democratization and the first use of the industrial style furniture start in the period of the post-war era. That was possible because of the manufactories and the adaption of the personal and domestic use of furniture in metal. Until that period housewives preferred furniture made out of wood. Since the change of metal furniture was quite great, at the very beginning people would put wood on seating surfaces and backrests of their furniture. This made the contrast to the metal furniture a little less strong and made it easier for people to adapt to that different style of furniture.

    • Jieldé

Jean-Luis Domecq (J.L.D.), a mechanic, develops the Jieldé lamp because he couldn't find a lamp that could fulfill his needs. 1952 he designed the first Jieldé lamp 'standard', this model is today known as the 'loft' model. This lamps are not only admired for their great technique but also for their beautiful aesthetic. Its originality is thanks to the mechanism without electric cable and the brand logo, which makes every lamp unique. Still today Jieldé produces the lamps in the same way as before in a factory near Lyon, France.
